Hope. Gratitude. Joy.

At the end of the year, I’m looking forward to helping activate even more positive change, and am spending time reviewing:

  • Successes, to see how I can create more of them for me and for my clients in 2013
  • My strengths, to see how I can use them more fully to serve
  • The things and relationships for which I’m grateful

These each align with the Big Three –

Hope. Gratitude. Joy.

Hope is a feeling of great expectation – it’s about looking forward to see what’s possible. There is so much undiscovered possibility for all of us, just waiting to unfold. We can each create a world for ourselves that delivers on our hopes and visions for our lives.

Gratitude unlocks the goodness for us, even in the midst of stresses and challenges. Taking note each day of what we are grateful for helps us to see more clearly the gifts that surround us.

Joy is different than positivity or happiness, but an outcome of both of these, lived to the fullest. Imagine an increase in positivity and happiness that unlocks a joyful life. It’s possible!

I can’t wait for all that will unfold in 2013!  I wish you the best on your journey throughout the year.  If you’d like a companion as you go, to bring clarity and accountability, just let me know.

Risky Business -Try It!

I’ve been inspired in the last month by a number of clients who have embraced opportunities they had previously considered to be “risky business.”

In this context, the business that is risky has nothing to do with the movie by the name, or Tom Cruise, and the risks are perfectly legal. As a matter of fact, not only is this risky business stuff legal, I’m personally recommending it!

Wanna Change It? Just Tweak It!

Okay, here’s a throw back for all you Brady Bunch fans. Of course you remember the “pork chops and apple sauce” episode, but what about the episode that dealt with Peter’s voice changing? The kids, adults, Alice the housekeeper and the whole neighborhood went down to the local recording studio so the kids could make a record. About Peter’s voice. Kind of. The record was all about change. Hmmm.

Just wanted to mention that here because even though that episode is a bit of a “golden oldie” now, the song had an important message that I find applies today.

When it’s time to change, you’ve got to rearrange who you are and what you’re gonna be

There’s no shortage of talk about change, is there? Change is hard. Change is inevitable. Change is us!

So what do we do with that knowledge about change?

Don’t Keep This A Secret!

Acclaimed financial advice guru Dave Ramsey was a millionaire in his 20s. He was in that wonderful 20-something decade of life – healthy, happy, and “living the life.”

Until he wasn’t.

He and his wife lost everything they had because, as he says, “we mismanaged our money and lost control of our lives.” They declared bankruptcy, and found out what it meant to be in deep debt and deep do-do, at a time when the journey should have just been beginning for them.

Learning for Living

Fortunately for most of us, we have not had to face the challenges in our 20s that the Ramsey’s did (or likely look back at that age and say we were millionaires either). Still, we can learn a few things from Dave that will help us in our daily lives.

I’d like to share one in particular. Read more

Your True Self

This morning finds me thinking about water, and its power.

I was at a concert recently in Cincinnati’s new Washington Park, and the water feature there is amazing for its power to attract. The community gathers around it, laughing, active, together.

Other powerful water experiences come to mind for me — trips to Niagara Falls, the Hoover Damn and most recently, Iguazu in Argentina.

There is such a difference in the power of water when it is dammed up, and when it is released.

How strong water can be to pull people towards it, and how powerful is it when it is fully unconstrained!

Our True Selves

Of course, this post is not all about water, but about having the confidence to release our good, whole, true selves. Read more
